General area where Urdu exists in large numbers

Urdu is the Lingua Franca of numerous regions and countries in South Asia. A lingua Franca is a trade language, language used in government, commerce, or a common language where many other unique languages exist. In south Asia, the highest concentration of Urdu speakers are in Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. The region where Urdu is most prevalent is overwhelmingly Muslim or Hindu, so places where Urdu is spoken can be extremely hostile to Christianity. Despite this, there are pockets of Jesus followers all over the region. Many of these people come from a variety of ethnicities, but they share in common the Christian faith and the Urdu language.

God brought Biblia Global a unique opportunity to provide Bibles to Urdu speaking Christians in South Asia beginning in 2025. Due to security concerns for our contacts and the believers we serve in these places, we are not naming the specific country and only referring to this area as “South Asia”. These believers are overwhelmingly surrounded by those hostile to the Christian faith. Additionally, these believers exist in crushing poverty, don’t own any form of transportation to travel to a location where a Bible could be purchased, and could never afford a Bible if one were available to be purchased! It is for these types of situation that Biblia Global exists!
